Flitch bench seat is constructed using traditional materials & techniques along with some modern ones. The bench is hand made from one English walnut slab that has been milled from a walnut tree sourced from Hanging Rock. The slab has been mitred & grain matched to give the appearance from the front elevations of a solid piece of timber. The bench is fitted with Elm legs turned from a tree felled from Yaldhurst Road. All of the timber used has been sourced within Canterbury & is great examples of the early plantings brought to New Zealand.
W 18100mm x D 300mm x H 440mm. Finished with naturally derived oil & wax finishes.
This bench can be used as a dinning bench, or as occasional seating.
As I hand make these benches, & they are made to order, bespoke dimensions & custom adjustments can be made. I have a range of different timbers available, or you may have your own timber you wish to use. Please get in touch to discuss your specific requirements & place your order.
