Cuttie-stool
$560.00
Hand made using traditional techniques & locally sourced New Zealand grown hardwoods to produce a quality product to last a lifetime, while making the smallest footprint as possible. The stools are made to dimensions, however they are made from a natural product with variations in grain & colour, so no two stools are alike. The name Cuttie-stool was a type of three-legged chair used in Scotland. This short stool has been designed to be used at a dinning table to provide more flexibility than a full bench seat.
These stools are made from timber sourced from within Canterbury, these timbers are a result of early plantings in New Zealand. The timber is finished with naturally derived oil & wax finishes.
The pictured example has an Elm seat with turned Olive ash legs joined by tapered wedged mortise & tenon leg joints. The crinoline stretcher has been steam bent & hand shaped.
W 480mm x D 400mm x H 450mm. Finished with naturally derived oil & wax finishes.
As I hand make these stools, & they are made to order, bespoke dimensions & custom adjustments can be made. I have a range of different timbers available, including Elm, White Ash, Black & English Walnut, or you may have your own timber you wish to use. Please get in touch to discuss your specific requirements & place your order.
